Here are some more dimmers that you may not know exist. All of them are by Lutron® although there are certainly more manufacturers of dimmers and controls.
This dimmer is called the Maestro®. The little dots on the left are LED lights and indicate the light level. Like the Diva dimmer I introduced to you last week, it too has a memory of the last level of light you selected. But the added feature of this dimmer is that it has a “fade to off”. Press the switch and there is a delay before the lights go completely off. This allows you time to either get to another switch, or across the room, out the door or into bed.
The only thing better than 1 dimmer switch is…. 2 dimmer switches. Better yet how about 2 dimmer switches in one switch box. No drywall cutting or patching here.
This dimmer is called the Spacer®. It has the same features as the Maestro® but then kicks it up a notch by adding the infrared remote control. So you can control the dimmer from your recliner, bed or up to 30’ away.
This dimmer is called the Vierti®. The center LED is available in blue, green or white with 21 wallplate colors from which to choose. Now how cool is that??
My favorite one isn’t fancy and it isn’t even a wall dimmer. This little guy, called the Credenza®, easily turns any incandescent lamp into a full range dimmer. Just plug the end of this device into the outlet and then plug your lamp into the back of this plug… and voila…instant dimmer. This way you don’t have to get 3-way bulbs for your 3-way sockets, plus you have more than just 3 light levels. No more reaching up under lamp shades trying to find the switch. Place the dimmer in easy reach and there’s even a handy LED night light to help you find him.
Now aren’t you glad you read this??
Next week is up to you. Let me know if you have any lighting issues that I might be able to help you solve.
Until then, I leave you with a quote from Donna Summer, “Dim all the Lights Sweet Darling…”
