How do you provide a dream for a child who is chronically ill, physically challenged or abused and cannot be away from their doctors for more then 24 hours? One of Sunshine Foundation’s national programs is the Dreamlift, a special trip for children who are too ill to stay away from home and their doctors overnight. We charter a jet to bring about 100 special needs children to Orlando to spend a day at one of the local theme parks.
On May 4th, Sunshine Foundation’s 89th Dreamlift arrived from Trenton, NJ with 91 special needs children on their way to Disney World. Over $100,000 for this Dreamlift was raised by the Mercer County (NJ) all-volunteer chapter of the Sunshine Foundation. The children and their chaperones arrived on a chartered Miami Air jet and were greeted by members of the Orlando International Airport Fire Rescue to help them off the plane and onto their four Disney buses.
Special thanks to Miami Air International and the Mercer County all-volunteer chapter of the Sunshine Foundation for helping make this special trip possible. The children truly enjoyed meeting Mickey, Minnie and all the other characters during a full day of Disney at the Magic Kingdom!
