Social Marketing - Are you there yet?

Social marketing, aka Twitter & Facebook, has changed marketing as we know it. If these are not already a big part of your overall marketing plan, they should be! Social marketing is pretty much a way of legally and politely spamming your target audience. They give you 24/7 access to your customers and prospects. Wow! What other medium can do that?

The hardest part of getting started is building your fan base. After you've created your Facebook page for your business, you need to promote it Here's a few tips to get you started on Facebook.

1. Add a link to your Facebook page to your email signature and be sure your email software automatically adds your signature to every email you send.

2. Include your Facebook link in every piece of literature your company produces. Business cards, invoices, packing lists, etc.

3. Personally invite all your Facebook friends. You can also use your customer or prospect email list and send them an email asking them to "Like" your page. Don't spam them though!

3. Dedicate some time EVERY day to make a post on yours and other Facebook pages. Make it interesting. The goal here is to get responses to your post. The more responses and "Likes" you get, the more exposure you get.

4. Create a contest on your Facebook page where every new fan is entered into a drawing for a chance to win....your greatest product!

5. Still want more fans? Then advertise on Facebook. Use that promotion you just created in step 4 and pay to advertise it on Facebook. Facebook allows you to target very specific user groups giving you a lot of control over where your dollar is being spent.

Most of all, just be consistent and you will see your fan base grow!

Confused? Like everything else, there are pros out there that can help. Don't hesitate getting a proposal from one or more web marketing organizations.
