It’s hard to believe that another year has come and gone. And what a crazy year it was. Dominated by negative news and economic woes, I don’t think too many people are sad to say good-bye to 2009. I’ve never been a big New Year’s Eve partygoer and I can’t say that I’ve ever really been a resolution maker either, but one thing is for sure. I have always loved the fresh, new feeling that New Year’s Day brings. As I pack away all of the Christmas decorations and purge the pantry and fridge of the leftover holiday goodies I’m always left with a new sense of energy to get things done and get back to the basics…and to me the basics feel soooo good. Back to a normal, albeit busy routine, back to regular exercise and eating right, back to Monday morning meetings at the office and back to a schedule filled with community events to attend. Ahhh yes, welcome back basics!
On the homefront, 2010 promises to be a year filled with change as my husband and I send our first child off to college. Sending my baby girl off into the big bad world is a little scary, but is also very exciting. We’ve spent the last 18 years preparing this little girl to be the best she can be and to make a positive impact on this world and I am confident that she will do just that. She is an amazing young woman who inspires me every day! There will certainly be lots of tears for me this year. Tears of joy as I watch her graduate from high school, tears of excitement as she begins her new chapter in life and tears of sadness as I let her go. It will certainly be a little quieter at our house, but on the plus side, I see lots of college game days in our future! Yes, there will be some change for me this year, but I welcome it wholeheartedly. I think 2010 is going to be an outstanding year and as my friend Stephanie Murphy would say, “I’m ready to get this party started!”
I wish you all a New Year filled with joy, love and laughter. May it be a year where we all count our blessings daily and strive to be the best that we can be in all that we do.
Happy New Year!
