The American Public hears often how to eat to avoid cardiovascular disease. Some of the info is wrong. Some is purely trying to sell you a product. But I think we all know intrinsically how to decrease our risks.
But from the most recent statistics I’ve read, heart disease and subsequent suffering and death continues to be on the rise.
The American Public has begun to actually EXPECT to die from cardiovascular disease and cancer.
And we’re right. If we eat the way the Average American eats, then we will absolutely fall victim to the diseases the Average American suffers. And its not a pretty future we have in store for us.
So, as long as we’ve decided to accept this AVOIDABLE fate, we might as well go out in style, right? (Forgive my Sarcasm...I’m attempting to drive the point home another way!)
So, if you’re bent on choosing to die from Cardiovascular Disease,
here’s the blueprint for Ensure you get it.
Why mess around?
Here’s your strategy:
1.Continue eating processed, highly salted and fatty foods, including those prepared with Olive Oil and labeled “lite”, “healthy”, “all natural” or “diet”.
2.Eat Dairy Products, and take Tums to make yourself feel good about “getting your calcium”
Keep your exercising to a minimum of once/week or continue being a Weekend Warrior.
3.Avoid Green Leafy Vegetables at all costs. And when you do have a salad, be sure to make it more palatable with Bacon, Cheese and Ranch Dressing.
4.Avoid fresh fruit and re-play the commercials from McDonald’s Fruit Smoothies and Sunny Delite mentally to make yourself feel good about checking off your fruit servings for the day.
5.Don’t worry about your cholesterol levels. Just take a Statin drug to ensure your safety.
6.Eat Cheerios to lower your cholesterol and give your children fortified Fruit Loops to ensure they receive their enriched Vitamin and antioxidant load that is part of a nutritious breakfast!
7. Eat meat. You need your protein.
8. Drive yourself and your children through your favorite restaurants often. It’s convenient and even less expensive than shopping. It also helps the environment by not heating up the kitchen.
9. Strive to live a “moderate” life. Your know your diet is better than the Average American. There’s no need to be extreme.
10. Use every “special occasion” you can find as an excuse to celebrate with processed white flour, sugar and fat culinary delights! (Yes, your dog’s birthday counts!)
11. Read popular health and fitness magazines as your primary source of education.
12. Smoke.
Forgive me for the sarcasm. I have had several conversations over the last few weeks that “drove” me to it.
Now. Here’s the bottom line, straight from the hardcore research:
YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY PREVENT AND REVERSE HEART DISEASE
THROUGH YOUR EATING AND EXERCISE CHOICES!
Here’s how:
1. Don’t eat any oils. (Even highly revered EVOO) Eat the source it comes from: The nut, seed or fruit (avocado)
2. Eat at least 1 pound of green leafy veggies every single day. Try a green smoothie for breakfast, a large salad for lunch and a soup with greens in it for dinner...everyday! (Kale, Chard, Mustard, Turnip, Bok Choy, Romaine, etc.)
3. Eat a pound of non-starchy vegetables every day. Tomatoes, mushrooms, eggplant, asparagus, broccoli, green beans, and on and on. The produce section or stand is FULL of choices you’ve probably never tried!
4. Eat 1 cup of Beans every day. Open a can, rinse and eat on a salad or in a soup.
5. Eat 1 cup of whole, unprocessed grain every day. Oatmeal, Brown Rice, Quinoa, Farrow, Aramanth.
6. Eat lean meat or egg whites 2-3 times a week, at the most, in a 2-4 ounce portion.
7. Eat at least 4 pieces of fruit every day (unlimited if you’re eating the other things above.)
8. Avoid all dairy, including low and non-fat.
9. Exercise Intensely 4-6 days a week focusing on doing something different, often.
10. Live life with a purpose! Take a stand for a healthy lifestyle by living your life out loud! No need to say a word, unless asked! (Yes, someone asked me to write this...)
Do these things and Live!
