Wow! What a weekend.
My husband and I are the proud parents of two beautiful teenaged girls. The youngest will be 16 this week and our oldest, 18 in February and headed to Florida State University in the Fall. I've been well aware of the fact that my "nest" will be losing one chick soon, but it became very real when we put our signatures on the dotted line of the lease agreement for her apartment yesterday. What an exciting yet sobering moment. Exciting is the fact that this intelligent, fun-loving, successful young woman is ready and chomping at the bit to venture out on her own and take on the world. Sobering is the fact that when August 2010 rolls around, my baby will be taking that next step toward complete independence (and my wallet will be feeling much lighter!). Well thankfully I have a few months left to prepare myself for her departure and I will certainly continue to enjoy her while she’s here. I’m sure some of you have already been down this road; I’d love to hear your experiences and feedback!
