Anyone can wear a pink ribbon or breast cancer support T-shirt. Michael Rose Hair Designs encourages Lakeland residents to be bold and add pink hair extensions to their hair in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The real-hair pink extensions are now available at Rose’s salon throughout October, and cost just $15 each. American Cancer Society will receive all proceeds from the sale of the extensions.
“Ultimately, I would love to see pink hair all over Lakeland as a show of solidarity and support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month,” Rose said. “We also are using the promotion to bring attention to our annual charity cut-a-thon, Hair for Hope.”
This is the third year the Lakeland hair salon will host Hair for Hope, a “hairoic” cut-a-thon to benefit women battling cancer. This year’s event is Thursday, Oct. 13, 5:30-8 p.m. and is open to the public. Participants are needed to cut at least 8 inches of their hair, which will be donated to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and used to make wigs that are distributed free through American Cancer Society wig banks nationwide to women undergoing cancer treatment.
“This is a great way to give to a cause that is dear to my heart and at the same time bring awareness to the issue,” Rose said. “I want to help the American Cancer Society in any way I can.”
Hair for Hope participants will receive a free basic haircut and $5 off their next visit at Michael Rose Hair Designs.
