It's Pay it Forward Day!

I was recently invited to attend Pay it Forward Day on Wednesday, December, 1, 2010 from a friend on Facebook. I thought it was a brilliant idea and one that many of us do on a routine basis. There is an actual world-wide Pay it Forward Day that will be held on April 28, 2011 as well. I personally think there should be more days to consider paying it forward than 1 or 2 days a year.

Here are a few details that are… Continue

Over 27 local businesses including independent consultants, and entrepreneurs who started right here in the Polk County area came together on Sunday, November 7th to host the 2010 Winter Haven Holiday Market in the Grand Ballroom at the Best Western Admirals Inn. What was created as a way for the community to meet local businesses and learn how to shop locally, surpassed that mission and also introduced local businesses to each other.

Meet & Mingle: "What is the Definition of a Good Wine?”

William Sokolin once asked that same question in his quote: “What is the definition of good wine? It should start and end with a smile." I wonder if William was with us at our recent Meet and Mingle event at Ric’s Wine Market in Lakeland. From the moment you entered the event, Ric was there to greet you with a smile, and after enjoying a sip of wine, you definitely had a smile on your face.

Our Meet and Mingle event held on Tuesday,… Continue

The Great Pumpkin Challenge!

I used to LOVE trick or treating as a kid.

My two brothers and I had an ongoing bet who could bring home the heaviest pillowcase full of decadent treats! I honestly can't remember who won, but I do remember sifting through the loot and separating the "good stuff" (aka chocolate) from the rest. There must have been 8-10 pounds of candy spread out over our kitchen table!

Things are a bit different now. It is SO not worth it to me… Continue

The Lean and Strong "Recipe"

Funny.

As unique as we all believe we are, I find that there are more similarities than there are differences.

It matters not your gender, race or body composition. We all have a desire to look and feel as amazing as we are capable.

So why is it that 92% of us surveyed are not happy with our bodies and feel overwhelmingly tired and stressed out?

I see a pattern.

Despite showing up at the gym for… Continue

School (and office) Lunch Help!

School lunches have been a hot topic this season, much in thanks to Jamie Oliver's TV hit, Food Revolution!

One of the main catalysts for Jamie's "mission trip" (Jamie is from the UK) to the United States to help our dying Standard American Diet eating populace was the USDA study that proved that children eating lunches from our National Lunch Program are more likely to become overweight!

Unfortunately even Jamie's solution of… Continue
