Profile Information

My Personality - Words to Describe Me:
I'm very outgoing and in our community volunteering and helping all ways I am able with the talents I have to share. I love helping people but it's selfish of me because I get more out of helping than they get from me!! I love Lakeland and our surrounding communities. I am known as a volunteer extrordinare; that makes me happy and proud for all I do and the time spent doing it.
I have a wonderful husband that allows me to put in the many hours I donate to charity and good causes becuase he knows it "makes my heart feel good!" And in doing so - it makes him feel good!
My Work Life - My Occupation/Business is:
I'm retired from hospice where I was the development person, PR and community. It fits right in to my "civilian" life doing for others.
My Home Life - My Relationship Status/Children:
I've been married for almost 44 years and raised my husbands children the age 7, 11 and 15 after his wife died of a massive coronary. My children are now 50 and 55 - the oldest boy was killed in the Navy many years ago. I have two granddaughters, my daughter's children, ages 16 and 21! In our home, it's always been said "we don't have a step-mother - we have a mothr!"
My Fun Life - My Interests & Hobbies:
I enjoy eating out at gourmet restaurants. My hobbies and interests are networking and I love helping those less fortunate, thus, not leaving me much time for a "fund life."
My Favorites - Celebs, Movies, Books, Websites, Music, Television, Travel & More:
I love Julia Roberts and her movie "Pretty Woman" is the only VCR I've ever purchased and watch it when I'm down! It perks me up. I don't read as much as I used to because if I'm reading, I'm not volunteering. Love to fund-raise for worthy causes. I don't watch much TV, but do like Dancing with the Stars and American Idol. When I can travel, it's to the Chicagoland area to see my children and my grands!
What Defines Me - The Things I'm Passionate About:
I'm passionate about my volunteer work for others less fortunate. Especially children. I recently fund-raised and provided children in the three homeless shelters, i.e. Lighthouse, Salvation Army and Lake Wales Woman's Center of TOMS Shoes. Also, headed up a project "Fill-a-Bucket" for the homeless children in the Polk County School system. You'd be surpriesed, or maybe you wouldn't about the numbers! And, they keep growing! That about says it all. Doesn't leave a lot of time for me.
Anything & Everthing Else:
My husband is supportive of all my activities and when someone asked him "Why do you let her do all she does for PACE Center for Girls?" His response "Because she loves it and it makes her heart feeel good." I think he knows what a better wife I am doing things that make my heart feel good!
