The Essential Study of the Word!

I love being able to share what God teaches me with others. It's what I am called to do...through my interaction with others, and through my writing. I know that, and I do it as faithfully as I can...as God gives me the opportunity. But please, do not ever look to others to supply you with "cliff notes" where the study of God's Word is concerned!! READ THE WHOLE BOOK!!        When it is time for the test...and trust me...there will be tests...the "cliff notes" will not be enough to get…See More

He is the Answer!

‎        "The Lord has given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him (or her) who is weary. He awakens me morning by morning. He awakens my ear to hear as one being taught. The Lord God has opened my ear; and I was not rebellious; nor did I turn away!"    Isaiah 50:4,5          So what have I "learned" and what would I "speak"?         There is no problem too big for God to handle...there is no true and lasting solution to the trying circumstances…See More

Truth...Knowing It...and Using It!

Everything I have been studying lately has taken me back to two very basic and foundational truths:        “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man (or woman) of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”  2 Timothy 3: 16, 17        "For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and…See More

Not Just Another Christmas Story!

The Lord woke me up this morning…He does every morning, of course, but this morning He did it in a very special way…He told me a story. I guess you could say it was a bedtime story…only it came in the morning, instead of at night! Then, as I wiped away the tears, He told me to get up and tell it to you. Word of warning…part of the story is a little sad…but stay with me…it has a happy ending…all of God’s stories have happy endings!             Once upon a time…long, long ago…there was…See More

No Greater Love...No Greater Way1

I wake up every morning and stay in bed for a bit and talk with the Lord. Did you notice I said WITH and not TO? He showed me that as I began to write these words down. Because our relationship has become such a place of intimacy and the absolute top priority of my life, it has become much more of a conversation than I ever thought was possible. I am not saying there is anything "special" about me...I am saying there is a whole lot "special" about Him! His promises are true...what He says in…See More

Using Everything God Teaches Me - Even On My Health

Wanted to share some things I have learned recently that have really helped me physically to just “feel better.” I have changed some things about my life after seeking God for some answers. Nothing in this area is Kingdom shaking, but just important to me.        Being very careful about my sodium intake; using a product called “NoSalt” No chemical taste, and you can use as much as you like because there is NO sodium in it! I don’t eat any what I call “pre-fab” meals. (That is most of…See More

Looking Back...Walking On....Trusting Him!

My youngest son David, has challenged me to a "Hunt Off" with the "Big Game Hunting" game on Wii. Wants to face off with me the next time I go up to visit. Bought the game to prepare myself...to outshoot him, of course, and it started me thinking about some things...going to share them with you...Got a minute?   About this Big Game Hunting Wii challenge...Don't laugh! I used to have my own 22...with a groundhog carved in the stock! Had a garden in Cairo, W. Va and had to keep the…See More

He Is So Faithful

Everyone has their faith falter once in a while. Maybe some area where we have difficulty waiting on God for the fulfillment of what He has spoken to us. I read something this morning that is so true and such practical wisdom, I thought I would share it:       "If we would guard against unbelief, we should reinforce our faith by constantly recapitulating (big word meaning "repeating") the story of God's past dealings, and thus, through the stream of memory, the uplands of our life will…See More

This Pilgrim's Progress!

If you read my last post then you already know I am spending a season of time stepping away from some the “busy-ness” of my life and seeking God. I do this quite a bit, but never for this extended a period of time. I really felt it was a directive from the Lord, so I was not the least bit hesitant about doing it.             I consider this a privilege and honor to be allowed to do this. I must admit I got some very surprising responses to my decision. I can’t imagine anyone…See More

"Come away with Me..."

August 21, 2011“Come away with Me….”             So many times, as I have walked with God, He has said those words to me. At first, it seemed like just a casual statement from somewhere in the deep recesses of my own soul. But, as the years went by, and God started teaching me about Himself, it changed.             About 28-29 years ago, He spoke something to me that took me into the Song of Solomon. It was an invitation to a deeper place than I had experienced up to that point, in my…See More

Leadership: A Job Or A Calling?

What makes you a leader? Is it personality or popularity? How about your ability to “persuade” others to follow you? Salesmanship; personal prestige? Education or degrees? Or even just being “appointed” to the position by someone in authority? Yes, in the world, that all can make you a leader. In business, those are very good things to have on your resume. Whether or not you are a good leader is still up to you. The Kingdom of God is different. Your ability to lead is not based on personality,…See More

The Script Was Written Long Ago!

Studied until 4:30 this morning. An amazing week of “discovery.” God opened my understanding to a lot of things; validated some experiences and broadened some lessons He had already taught me. Received the understanding …just waiting on the instructions, so I will know what to do with it, and where to share it. Learning how to be all I should be as “part” of God’s plan for this moment in time. Cooperating with Him! Some years ago the Lord gave me a vision. I was backstage at a large theater. I…See More

Satan ~ The Deceiver

I never spend much time talking about Satan. That should never lead anyone to think, even for a moment, that I deny the reality of his existence. I just never liked the idea of giving him free "publicity." I so abhor his existence, I don't even want to give him the consideration of capitalizing his name, but I will, so as not to offend the grammatically correct among us.The first thing you need to know about him is he is a liar! He will even take the Word of God and distort it to…See More

The Manual For Life

If someone is trying to do something, and they are not sure how to do it, the first thing they do is hunt for information on that particular topic. With all the resources available online and shelves full of manuals at the local library or bookstore, there are very few things we can’t at least try to turn into a “do-it-yourself” project. Isn’t it funny that we don’t do the same thing with the biggest project we will ever undertake…life? We have the “manual.” It’s called the Bible; the Word of…See More

All In A Day's Work!

You can have children or you can have an ego, but you can't have both! The Scripture admonishes us again and again to humble ourselves.  I don't remember it saying anywhere that my children would be assigned to do it for me, but bless their hearts, they seem to be faithful to the call.        Shortly after becoming "single again," I began a career as a nursing assistant. I had completed my training and passed with the highest grade in the class. My certificate was framed and hung on the…See More
